Chitelix

A Unique, Innovative & Sustainable Biopolymer

Chitosan powder alongside crustacean shells

What is chitosan?

Chitosan is the only naturally occurring polycation, with a charge density influenced by its degree of acetylation and the pH of its environment.

It is derived from chitin, one of the most abundant biopolymers in nature after cellulose, found in the exoskeletons of crustaceans and the cell walls of fungi, known for its versatility and biocompatibility.

Through partial deacetylation, chitin is transformed into chitosan, a more soluble and functional biopolymer enabling a wide range of applications across industries.

At CHITELIX, chitosan is at the core of transforming marine resources into sustainable, high-impact solutions.
